The City of Edina was established in 1888. One hundred twenty-five years later, the City is more than 98 percent developed. As more redevelopment of property occurs in Edina, the City is confronted with continually changing land uses that can affect the area surrounding that property.

The Comprehensive Plan is the City's long-term guide to how property should be developed and redeveloped. An objective the the comprehensive plan, the City will take an active role in future redevelopment strategies.

There have recently been several areas of the City redeveloped and even more that are proposed, such as Byerly's, 7171 France Ave.; Phoenix Plaza, 6996 France Ave.; a medical office building and retail area, 6500 France Ave.; and proposed apartments in the southeast corner of Southdale Center.
